No some where drowned from trial by water where the Wrists and ankles where bound together from behind and then they where thrown onto the village pond. The trial being that if the floated to the surface then it must have been witchcraft that saved them, or they sank and drowned if they wern't rescued in time. So no luck either way.
No. One or two of them got away, which is why we see them around here and there in certain nighclubs.
Prior to any burning or drowning they were usually tortured into confessing that they were a witch thus the state then claimed their land or monies denying their families any inheritance rights. Both mysogynistic and profitable!
actually no witch was burned or drowned, just innocent women who had their words twisted and given impossible tasks to see if theywere indeed witches.
