Were there any plans to send UK troops into Laos in the late 1950s and if so to what aim?

I can't say wether or not any such plans existed; however if they did their aim would have been to assist the French in their futile colonial war against the Viet-Minh in Indo-China.

The country which became Vietnam and whose freedom fighters the Yanks re-named Viet-Cong, because Viet-Minh didn't sound threatening enough!
