it's commonly believed that the Germans had better Armour in WW2. Was there any Allied Armour the Germans respected/feared?

The russian T-34 was feared by the Germans on the Eastern Front it was far superior to German Panzers. This is because it was perfectly adapted to Russian weather and climate.

No, the Allies relied on total materiel superiority. It is reckoned that a Tiger tank was the equal of up to 5 Sherman tanks (the main Allied battle tank) - but this didn't matter, because in most theatres, the Allies were far more likely to HAVE 5 Shermans than the Germans to have 1 Tiger. It was even worse on the Eastern front, because the Russian T34 (and KV1) were generally superior AND more numerous.

The T-34 and IS-2 were both great Soviet tanks. The T-34 was very fast and with its 76mm & especially 85mm cannon it was more than a match for the German Panzer. The British/US also had a 76mm version of the Sherman which again was very powerful versus the German tanks. The German's did have the Panther (75mm), Tiger I (88mm) and Tiger II (88mm). The Tiger I was perhaps their best tank; the Tiger II being more superior but lack of fuel and reliability issues made this tank virtually useless.
