from 1555 to july 11, 1648 the french central goverment sent commissioners into the provinces with authority to compel obedience in the provinces to central goverment orders. central commissioners were appointed. what is the name of french goverment commissioners during rule of Louis XIV

Intendants?
This was started by Henri IV. Initially, they were not office holders under the state, but later were made royal commissioners and had the name of 'Intendants', as Dundurn rightly says.
