All right the now...
If only Free were from Scotland.
It doesn't really mean anything. It's just a piece of typical music-hall comedian's so-called Scots, rather like: "It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht the nicht." In other words, a collection of words that no sane Scotsman would be likely to say.

'Och aye' in normal circumstances would mean 'Oh yes' and 'the noo' generally means 'just now', as in "I saw him the noo." I suppose it's just about possible, but not very likely, that someone might say - in response perhaps to: "Did you just arrive?" - "Och aye, the noo."

Basically, it's just a joking scotticism along the lines of: "Hoots mon...awa'"

Nae bother big man.
I love Beale's answer!
Yes Liz, sure was clever...what's it mean...did it answer the question and I missed it..? cheers
as QM correctly states no Scotsman (or woman) would ever use this phrase. but i was told it meant "Oh, i don't know" (och i dunnoo)
Nice idea, Darth...I like it!
och aye the noo and braw bricht originate from a scottish dialect called dorrik, which is spoken in the grampians and near and about Aberdeen. Other commonly used words are:- hen (girl), ken (to know).
It's spelt doric - and "hen" is used mainly in Glasgow, not in Aberdeen.
