Lancaster Bomber.
I've just watched the news item about the Dambusters(and very good it was too !) It showed a Lancaster flying over Derwent water and mentioned that it was one of two left in the world ( I think).Anyone know where the other one is? Thanks in anticipation, your Blueflame.

I live on the Notts/Lincs border and I've had the pleasure of seeing the Memorial flight on several occassions and I'm not ashamed to admit that every time has caused a lump in my throat

Just been on Wiki (Avro Lancaster) and if you scroll down it gives the location of all known Lancasters (one of which is indeed in Australia) however only two the one in Canada and the one in the BBMF are airworthy. The one that flew over the Derwent, even tho she is officailly known as City of Lincoln is regularly repainted in the colours of different squadrons or famous WW11 bombers , at the moment she is flying as "The Phantom of the Rhur"
the first time I saw the flight we were visiting my mother. We heared the sound of the engines and before anybody could even see anything mum looked up and said "they're Merlins" and sure enough the lanc came into sight with the spitfire and hurricane flying escort (a magnificen sight. I have to tell you) mum told us howt during the war she and my aunties would stand out at watching the bomber streams heading for Germany including one night when as she put it the flight seemed endless, which they found out later was the first 1000 bomber raid and then in the morning as they were going to work they would see them returning, often damaged. After that, as she said she'd recognise the sound of a Merlin anywhere
