Who were the people whom Prophet Mohammed converted to Islam?Were they Jews and Christians??Or, what was the name of the generations of people between the times of Ismael and Prophet Mohammed?I presume the term Muslim/Islam came into existence only after the Prophet Mohammed that is circa 600AD.

The people Mohammed converted were the Arabs. At that time Zoroastrianism was their largest single religion, but they had a great number of sects and cults, all influenced by paganism, Judaism, Christianity and magic. Just as, historically, Christianity was to become the single religion of the Europeans, Islam would become the single religion of the Arab peoples.
