does anyone know of any ancient stone monuments in or around the West Mids ??

Try www.stonepages.com they show them on the map of England. Looks like one in Warwickshire may be the nearest

The Rollright Stones are a Bronze Age stone circle on the Warwickshire / Oxfordshire border, a few miles from Long Compton.

ancient roman stuff at wall, between muckley corner lichfield and tamworth ( just of a5 ) or castle ring at cannockwood (not far from burntwood)
