In the thirteen years between the Kings accession and Shakespeares death the Kings Men ( Shakespeares troupe ) played at court 187 times .An average of thirteen Royal Command performances a year compared with three a year during Lizzies reign .
James payed him twice as much as Elizabeth had done !

Of course, the actor Shakespeare died in 1593 really, and the man who lived outside Stratford in exile, writing the sonnets and plays was Christopher Marlowe, using Shakespeares name as a pseudonym.
