Sorry, Beckychhatra, it's Latin not Greek. "Scientia", knowledge, is the past participle of "scire", to know. We also use the suffix "scient" from the same root to form words meaning varous qualities of knowing, as in prescient, to have foreknowledge, and omniscient, to have knowledge of everything.
