Anyone, sitting at home, and thinking rationally, would have dismissed Hitler's ideas as insane (even the Germans in the 1930's).

But stand him on a platform, and he persuaded a whole nation that his loopy ideas represented their destiny.

Yes I agree with what you say Jogger however I have to write a 750 word essay about it. I have cut and paste a few things already from the internet but would like someone else to compare Hitler too. Maybe Mussolini? was he any good?

Why don't you take the speech by Mark Anthony in Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar, and try to see who, in real life, has used the oratorial techniques that he used?

Mark Anthony took a hostile crowd and, while appearing to praise his opponents, and accept the criticisms of Ceasar, subtly planted seeds in the mind of the crowd until they were begging him to lead them.

It is the ultimate example of a great speech. It is used as a model by speech writers, and by marketing companies.
