During the WW11 All or part of the RAF was led by a "Bomber Harris" .Did he go blind. There was a newspaper artical with a picture of my grandad offering his eyes to Bomber Harris  with the headlines " The eyes of a hero" as my grandad considered it his contribution to the war (he wasnot eligable to fight himself). I cannot find any more info on this but I believe the artical came from the Daily Mirror.

A simple Google search for "Bpmber Harris" (without the inverted commas) led to http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Bomber+Harris&btnG=Google+Search

I've only looked at the first three items briefly, but nos. 1 and 3 give potted biographies, and neither mentions anything about him going blind.
