Heart shaped trees

Just after you pass Kirby Stephen and Westmoreland heading south you pass in between the pennine mountains and on the side of one of the mountains there is a group of trees that are in the shape of a heart. Now there is a myth surrounding the trees that goes something like there were a pair of lovers and the girl died, so her lover planted the trees before killing himself. Does any one know if its true???

i don't think that is true - my gran always told me it was to do with a fire in the area, where a number of people died, and they planted the trees to remind people that those lost where still loved. but i'm not sure about this either.
