If you've got time and you can get hold of a copy try reading Thomas Moore's Utopia (No-place: literal translation). Originaly written in Latin as a satire it describes a place where money and gold have no value and those who posess riches are viewed as outcasts. It's a kind of reversal of Western culture. How nice it would be if our goals were not simply based on the accumulation of wealth.
