Don't know which famous railway engineer is buried at Stoke Gabriel, but George Jackson Churchward, chief mechanical engineer for GWR was born there on Jan 31st 1857. He is buried in Swindon.
Suffering from poor eyesight and hearing in later life, he was killed by an express train whilst inspecting a railway sleeper.
