Depending on which civil war you mean, the last Republican civil war faction leaders were Pompeius Magnus and Gaius Julius Caesar. Caesar won, (after extra time), at Actium, and Pompey was assassinated by the Egyptians. No one likes a loser.
Caesar was assassinated by the Romans. No one likes winners much either.

Previous to my last, an error. The first phase of the civil wars between the conservative, or Optimate faction, and the liberal, Populares faction was between Sulla and Gaius Marius respectively. After these two were dead, the next phase was between Gaius Pompeius and Julius Caesar. Caeasr won, at Pharsalus. After Caesar was assassinated, the last phase was between Caesars' heir, Octavius, and Marc Antony and Cleopatra. This ended at Actium.
