We all know that Hitler was misguided in his quest for world domination - like many of his sort through history .

However where would you say he fits in on the scale - in terms the tactician - compared to people like Genghis Khan / the various Roman Emperors / Napolean etc

I wouldn't have thought he would have made the list.
The tacticians were his generals and field marshals such as Rommel.
As far as Hitler was concerned he disregarded their advice and strategy and resorted to astrology in his decision making.
It's widely accepted that Hitler would have probably achieved his aims, certainly in Europe, if he had not made several catastrophic errors in tactics so I'd say he was a very poor tactician, not in the same league as the others you mentioned.
