She was originally launched in 1860 under the name "Amazon" and was considered an unlucky ship even then, her first captain died within 48 hours of boarding her and she suffered several accidents at sea until she was run aground off Cape Breton and left to rot. She was eventually salvaged and renamed Mary Celeste - the rest we all know
