Types of honours: http://www.mod.uk/honours/

Names: http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk

(for a fee).

If you know the name of a particular regiment, then they may have their own website listing the honours of the men who served.  These can be searched through Google.

If you have the name of a particular soldier you want to research you can always type in medal index card and that will link you to a goverment on-line document site this is free of charge unless you want to download a copy of the MID card (3.50). Also if you want to know what medals were issued a good site is Tom Tulloch Marshall just type this in and the site will come up
