Ian, www.cwgc.org lists the vast majority of the war dead of both World Wars. Unfortunatel y I don't think these records alone will allow you to identify your GGrandfather . The Royal Scots were increased out of all proportion to their peacetime strength during WWI. They lost over 11,000 men killed. Searching the records for J or John Stewart gives 15 names...

Ian, www.cwgc.org lists the vast majority of the war dead of both World Wars. Unfortunately I don't think these records alone will allow you to identify your GGrandfather. The Royal Scots were increased out of all proportion to their peacetime strength during WWI. They lost over 11,000 men killed. Searching the records for J or John Stewart gives 15 names after excluding men buried back in the UK. You may be able to exclude some of the others by going into their personal records - some may have detals of wives or parents which might make them ineligible.
