Why are you breaking the law when you eat a mince pie?

apprently i was reading this in my sociology book that i have got, that it was breaking the law (yrs ago) if you cooked or at a mince pie on christmas day, also if you howl a cab in the street and if a salesman went to sell something to lady on a sunday.  how times have changed.

Because it's illegal.

Celebrating Christmas with food and parties was banned by the Puritans in the time of Oliver Cromwell.

Ursula's right, for the same reason I believe it's still illegal to eat a Hot Cross Bun. The Puritans believed religious holdiays were not for merrymaking. I guess they just forgot to repeal the laws once the monarchy was restored
