I can see access is denied for many years yet. Sounds very fishy to me,typical of some of those places.

I have a friend who was at Sunnedon House around 1955/6, I must ask her next time I see her just what went on there?

The '100 year rule' is standard across all all English county archive offices, Droopdrawers. Records relating to individuals (rather than to other factual details) are always closed for that period.

For example a village school might have closed at the same time as Sunnedon House, and have passed all of its records to the county archive. The files showing the planning consents for new classrooms, lists of staff members etc, (which were already in the public domain) will have become immediately available to the public. But the school nurse's records (showing which children had rickets or nits) and the head teacher's punishment book (showing which children he caned, and why) would be kept secret for 100 years.

So there's nothing suspicious about the Sunnedon House records being withheld.
