Read a book based in the days when the plague was about. I didn't know it could kill in a day. How was it eradicated in those primitive times or did it just die out and why don't we see it today?

I've been to Eyam.

The little well is still there, outside the village, where they used to leave money, in vinegar.

According to QI, the "Great Fire wiping out the plague" thing is just a myth.

As you can see from here, there still are outbreaks in the Americas, including the US
