I believe that internal bathrooms/kitchens need mechanical ventilation to comply with regulations in Scotland. Even if they don't I would keep it.
Yes I would imagine you do, is probably also a legal requirement.

"Your bathroom will be fully tiled", am I missing something?

I just thought that tiles wouldn't absorb moisture.
^ They wont .. and any dampness and water vapour will not be removed by the extractor fan. It will condense in the room anywhere on cold surfaces.
Having an extractor fan vent internally is not a great setup. It would likely not meet regs now. Removing is not illegal .. just inadvisable.
They won't. That is not the point; without ventilation the air will be permanently moist and often warm. This is a breeding ground for all sorts of bugs.
Unanimous here, alba............... please keep the fan. Not ideal, as Al said, it would be good if it was vented to the outside.

Builder, the problem is that there is another room between the bathroom and the outside wall. It's an old tenement building and when originally built had no bathroom at all. BUT, I've gone with all advice and bought a new one!! Thanks guys for your answers.
I live in Edinburgh and had internal bathroom once. The extractor fan outlet was ducted through the kitchen to get to an outside wall. I am surprised yours was done the way you describe. Modern fans are very quiet and can have timers etc as well.
:-)
If you want condensation running down the walls and mould in the grouting and around the window sills, then remove it. But put a large budget away for redecorating/cleaning.
Aren't all bathrooms internal ? Not seen one in the garden yet ;-)
internal means without window
Sounds like a friends Glasgow flat (tiny toilet immediately on entering the property) - you will need the forced ventilation.
