My Oko lavamat washer is not heating the water. I have tested the element and it's OK and 240 volts is getting to it but doesn't seem to be getting away.
Anyone any ideas?

How have you tested the element, John?
A continuity test might give false indications. A resistance measurement should tell you something.
Also, with any heater, the first thing to go is usually the thermostat.

Builder, I used a multi meter set on reistance. There are other wires on the element, could one be the thermostat?
Ahh ............ more wires? Maybe different, switchable heat settings for the element?
I don't know without looking at a wiring diagram, I'm afraid. Manufacturer's website?
That's an AEG .. right? I have one. The element has rubber surround and a clamp?
The element is a stick type with two terminals and an earth tag. I would have expected the element to have failed if it's not heating up.
Just resistance check between the two main terminals .. and each one to the body while you are at it. Element needs continuity. Any continuity to the body is a fail.

Albags, re is 29 ohms between the 2 terminals. There a 2nd pair of thin wires in the centre which must be the temperature sensor and thee measure 6 K ohms, don't know if this is a thermistor or thermocouple or what.
Well, 29 ohms would be right for a 2kw heater. I guess the current isn't getting through to the element then. I'd still bet that there's a thermostat somewhere.......... tried tracing from the mains lead?

The leads go to a circuit board with 2 diodes that seem to have been hot. I think the 2 thin wires to the centre of element are some sort of temperature sensor. There are several heat settings so there must be some sort of temp control.
