would shorting the two leads from scr unit to the boiler cct (baxi 105e) be the same as the scr calling for heat. In other words is it just an internal relay contact in the scr.

I guess this is one of the radio controlled roomstats?
A manual stat is really just a temp operated switch .......... two wires.
If there are only two wires leaving yours, then I imagine it's the same principle. Connecting the wires would normally simply start the circulating pump going.

Thank You Tha Builder.
Yes it is a radio type.
Needed to know if relay or Thyistor or what ever.
tis relay, boiler flashes up when shorting input.
Apparently the unit calls for heat (green light) on but the relay did not actuate, the fault lying in the capacitor supplying voltage to relay. Changed capacitor, now operation OK.

Cheers
Hi, I have the same problem, sometimes when the light goes green I hear no click and still 240 volts across the contacts. How did you diagnose the capacitor was the problem?
Its a common fault on the SCR, it's a large capacitor which fails, i have sold loads of replacements for this device

If u need a capacitor email me and we can sort something out
