Creaking door.....

I have just hung a new door to my bedroom.

I've 'handed' the door, chased out for the hinges, etc. and it all fits a treat. However, just before the door closes, it makes quite a loud 'creak'......and at the same point when it is being opened.

It's not squeaky hinges but does anyone have any tips on how to remedy this?

Is the door catching on the door frame as you close it ?

We've checked to see if there is any 'catch' anywhere but can't see anything.

How do you know it's not the hinges?

'cos they have been WD40'd and oiled to within an inch of their lives........:o)

It is a definite 'woody-creak' rather than a metallic squeak.

Try spraying some silicon on the hinges, just to see if it is them.

Just a thought jack, try rubbing a candle on the closing edge of the door.

It could be the 'door frame' creaking at the introduction of the new hinges, we had one that did that.

Does that mean you have put a leading edge on the door?
You say it fits a treat, are you looking at the door when shut, from the bedroom side?
Try closing the door standing on the landing looking at the gap as you close it.

Mamya - It seems to be just that.

MT - There is 'daylight' round every edge....inside and out.

Tonyav - I didn't realise there was still speculation about my Mod-status. Why do you ask?
