Curtain Problem

Having just washed,the curtains,and the little plastic thingys and the rail.upon reassembly they now dont draw properly. I washed all the plastics in a bleach solution,now they dont rail? properly. any advice most welcome.

Do you mean they don't run along the rail smoothly? Or do you mean the curtains don't meet in the middle?

Not sure really, perhaps try a bit of spray polish on the pole (if it is a pole). If it is a rail perhaps just keep using them, drawing them back and forth.

You need to lessen the friction of the plastic thingies as they run along the pole/rail.

Rub them on the plastic strip thing that the runners glide on. You need some lubricant. Trouble is, you can't put oil on curtains because it will ruin your curtains.

If none of the suggestions work, perhaps you could buy new plastic thingies. Make sure you take one with you to the shop as there are loads of different ones. They look very similar.

Those plastic thingies are a pain. Once you've give them a good clean, they are never the same again.

For future reference, I usually dolly mine around in a dish of very hot(not boiling) water with washing up liquid. Then rub dry in an old towel. Works well.

I don't know why anyone would want to bleach the plastic thingies. All they need is a rinse to get any dust off. No one can see them when the curtain's put up. Why bleach them?

Spray a little (really I do mean a little) (not very much at all) (really) WD40 onto a clean cloth.

Wipe it all along the curtain track several times.

Then clean off any residue with another cloth.

It works - but you may need to wipe the curtain track again after a day or two.

Vaseline works too. Other wotsits are available.

.................and make sure you have secured the curtains at the non-drawing end, otherwise they will come flying off the rail.

I think Vaseline might be a bit, well, messy.
