Diy Garden Cabin.
We are just playing with some numbers and working out the feasibility of building a similar structure to this but probably a little bigger for less money.

I was thinking along the lines of stud walls and 15mm cedar shingles or overlap T&G or similar.
Im not a great chippy but with the right equipment and a knowledgeable pair of hands I think it could be done.
The place would be used as lounge, office, bedroom, retail area. not living accommodation.
It must be substantial so I dont want an oversized garden shed.
What do you think?

Insulation between the studs (uprights). Then more insulation if you want (depending on budget)
Plasterboard & skim internally, or 9mm MDF for easy DIY
A monopitch roof would be easier for you to cut than a conventional ridged roof. (Monopitch means one sloping plane...... higher at one end than the other)
"Onduline" is a fairly cheap roof covering. Works well, and looks OK too.
It all depends on how much you want to spend Rats.

To clarify: an office, lounge, bedroom ARE habitable spaces, so Planning Consent definitely required and Building Regs too. A 'retail' space sounds like a change of use to one of the business classes of use, so PC also definitely required (which probably won't be given).

The retail area will not be open to the public, The lounge area will be a treatment area for animal assisted therapy. The bedroom will not be a permanent bedroom, more like somewhere to stay if required to look after farm animals.The bedroom is not essential, the land will be farmed but on a small scale. Im sure I could just call it a store! The treatment area and retail area will be for clients by invite only, possibly a cafe area as well.

With regards to living accommodation, we will probably be keeping Alpacas on the land, this gives special allowances to live on the land if required (to complicated to into here) usually in a mobile home though for 5 years before seeking permanent residency on the land. These are still general enquiries at this stage and the land will be in Wales, the rules and regs are not quite as bad as in England hopefully. And the fact that we will be running a venture mainly directed at the mentally and physically disabled we are hoping they may be a little more flexible.
