Wiring Downlights??
hi guys ,need a little help with this pls.
lowering my stair ceiling and have put spots in the middlw landing , can you tell me if i can wire in direct in to the up stair hall light switch so the turn on the same time as the upstaris, at the moment there is a single light switch down stairs to turn on the upstairs and the same at the top .

In which case it may be a pain to re-route the cable to a different established switch. But the lamps themselves are just additional loads to be wired in parallel to the existing ones, and are unlikely to take so much current as to be an issue adding them. But for sure, it'd probably pay you to get someone to do the job for you.
Yes, you can safely connect in more lighting, but you'll probably have to connect directly into the ceiling rose for the upstairs light. This is so you can get a switched live and a neutral from there.
You won't be able to get a feed from the switches. They'll be on 2-way switching. Probably no neutral in there........ depending on how it was wired up originally.
You are allowed to do this yourself, but you must be familiar with the circuit layout.
