Fao. The Builder. Could You Recommend A Decent Bench Saw?

I am looking at buying a bench/ table saw that will allow me to cut all angles for mitres etc. It will be mostly used for rough cutting wood for making field shelters for farm animals, stables etc. but may also be used for finer work, I imagine I would need to change blades for fine and courser cutting jobs. I'm hoping to spend about £500 on either a new or second hand machine. Could you recommend a suitable reliable and robust machine?

Hi Ratts ........... I've been using an ELU site-saw for years with no trouble at all. I don't think it's available anymore, but this is close.........

You can't go wrong with Axminster Power Tool Centre. Their tech. people are only too glad to advise. They'll never sell you anything that you don't really need.

I also use a Makita bench-top saw for finer work. It has a 10" blade. I think for what you will use it for, a 12" would be better.

You'd be surprised how fine you can cut with the 12" blade

Many thanks, I will look into those saws, I must say I do like Makita. I wont be buying any thing until the move, I got enough stuff to move as it is, I hate moving!!

I have a Dewalt saw table which I think is excellent. For your purposes I would recommend looking at the Scheppach HS1200 315MM saw bench. It seems ideal and very good value from Angelia Tool Centre.
