v few flat roofs are done with stone finish now-what age is the roof?
Question Author
1965 ish
right---its lasted well
My kitchen extension has lots of stones on it. Was there when I bought the house. And lots of moss, and until the spring had accumulated some other plants too ! Not keen on flat rooves. If this one gives problems I'll probably get someone to replace it with a sloping one. (A double story extension would be nice but no doubt out of the question.)

sure has that's why I want to and some protection and I know its expensive to get the experts in
flat rooves ok-if done well and looked after(clear of moss ,clean out gutters etc)
what area is it?
At over 40yrs old its done well. Due you get water pooling on it in dips, any leaks?
OG, I'm disappointed. Even though we contantly hear about "rooves" on those interminable TV house restoration programmes, the word is "roofs"!
If you can design a flat roof to hold water ...then it will never leak ...as its the heat from the sun that does most damage..followed by window cleaners!
Surely that's called a penthouse paddling-pool?
You can easily install an EDPM sheet of rubber yourself. It should easily last you another 40 years.
Have a look here http://www.permaroofstore.co.uk/products/flat-roof-kits/firestone-membrane-flat-roof-kits-permaroof-in-a-box

I'm not going to tell you how to do it... just have a look at the videos.
I've used it quite a few times, and when properly installed, it should never leak again.
