Fit Bath Panel

My friend's new bath panel has a right angled 50mm lip top and bottom. How do we fit it?

Not done many bath panels in my time, but doesn't one simply offer it up to the side of the bath and screw it into the framework ? Unsure what difference a lip top & bottom will make. Nor why it is there, to be honest.

We don't know what to do with the lip to be honest, its a couple of inches wide and doesn't appear to slot in under the bath top. Traditionally bath panels were flush and you fixed then to a battened frame. Not sure what to do with this one.

That is my experience too. If it doesn't fit under the frame doesn't that suggest your friend has bought the wrong size ?

If it is not that, but a case of it doesn't push in far enough and sticks out, that might be a different matter.

I may be mistaken but my guess would be that the lip was just decorative. I half think it might be that the frame is expected to be further from the edge than normal, so the lip doesn't jut out but the panel seems sunk in ?

Awful things, Maydup. I usually chicken out, and make my own ;o)

I guess the top lip fits under the flat part of the bath.. tucked in behind the bath lip. Then, the bottom part sits on the floor.

All totally academic though if the bath legs aren't set to the right height.

Ah major pain to have to raise the bath and redo the seals and maybe pipes. May I recommend a good wood plane ? Or getting a refund and employing builder to make one ;-)

Thanks all. Friend of a friend fitted the bath and didn't have time to fit the panel. We thought we'd be able to do it between us, but will have to look again.
