Gloss Paint Removal (Again)

Am I correct in thinking that if I make a paste with caustic soda, apply and leave for a few hours it will dissolve the paint?
I will, of course, take the necessary safety precautions

It would probably work but the 'proper' way to do it is to cover the coated surface with a suitable layer of material:

It can't do any harm to give it a go, Ric.

The only thing is that, when a caustic soda bath is used, there's generally a fair bit of scrubbing brush work needed. I don't know if it'll penetrate the layers as well as the product linked above.

Have used "thick" wallpaper paste with caustic soda in, sprayed it occasionally to keep it moist, worked fine
