I have a door which seems to get endlessly caught in gusts of wind through the house - whenever a window/door is open at both the front and rear.
Consequently it is forever slamming, the toughened glass (at least I hope it's toughened) gets a severe rattling several times a day at this time of year.
I can easily enough source a simple automatic closer (sort of spring type thing), but I'd actually like one with the option of it being also possible to set it to be held 'open' as well as 'closed'.
I've had a ferret around, but can't quite find the right thing - has anyone got any links/suggestions please?
I have exactly the same problem and I'm always terrified a cat might be half way through when it slams. The force is incredible, it doesn't even need to be a windy day.
I have many door stops - the trouble is that the door only has a 'ball' type catch & so can be pushed open by junior dog ... it then slams cheerfully until a dave replaces the door stop.
Dave, there are several scissors-type closers with a "hold open" function. Closers can look a bit chunky, but they work. You just swing the door out to 90 degrees, and it stays there until you give it another heave.
I've trawled through a load to try and find one for you, but it's a trial & error. The simplest way would be to ring or email "Ironmongery Direct".
Google them for details. They'll know what you want.
