The pop up waste plug has broken and have decided to go back to the good old plug and chain. Are basin plug holes in the basins all about the same size as I would like to remove the old pop up and replace with a complete new one

No there are several sizes. I can't find the correct size to replace the plug of my kitchen sink . All the ones I can find are too large or slightly too small.
I had the same problem a few months back, EDDIE.
I changed ours to a good old standard plug on a chain.

Just an update for anyone that is interested. I bought 2 basin waste and chrome plugs from Screwfix and watched a video on YouTube on how to replace the waste. It went fine for the first one as that plumber used Plumbers Mate around the seal but the second one took a bit longer as that plumber had used white silicon and it took an age to clean. As I have never attempted to do any plumbing work before and have no leaks I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. The YouTube was a must though and would never have attempted it without watching it, so thanks to everyone who put these on for us novices.
