Hello, I bought some replacement cartridges to fix a leaky tap (Bristan). I have no clue as to how to get the top of the tap off so that I can replace the cartridge. I asked the men in the shop and they didn't seem to know either! There are no grub screws so I was told that it 'probably just pops off'. I've been twisting, turning ,pulling and pushing and I can't get it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't seem to be a specialised technical question but finding the answer seems to be absurdly difficult!

Hi mamyalynee,

Thanks for your reply. The tap looks like the one in the link below - it's a Bristan Smile with a 'loop' that turns at the top. There's nothing to unscrew. If it comes off by yanking it hard, I want to know that I'm not going to damage it. Hope you can help!

Here's the installation guide (hard for me to read) may include the details you need.

Yes, there's a section on Maintenance.

A little chrome cap to prise off with a sharp blade. Then it's straightforward.
