Painting Flag Stones

I have a patio area approx 4 mtr square. They are very tatty and discolored. I have heard you cn paint over them with masonry or concrete paint. I have given them a good clean and will refill the missing mortar.
Any ideas on which type of paint is the best and will it need a sealer/protector. Thanks.

I came across this on Amazon a while back. Supposedly it can be used on almost anything...anywhere. Comes in a larger size too.

Pasta's link is a good product. It'll do what it says, but...............

I really don't think it would be durable. Foot traffic will wear it off fairly quickly.
I don't want to throw sand on the barbie here, but, are you sure you want to do this. As it wears, it will inevitably begin to look tired. You'll have to keep re-coating.

One solution is to go for an industrial floor finish. A polyester resin sort of thing. 2-pack... product plus hardener.
There are loads. Have a good Google.

^yes, putting paint on anything that is normally unpainted can be a recipe for disappointment (for the reasons The Builder has given).

Thanks folks. Maybe I need to bite the bullitt and get it replaced. Its a pain cos theres a shed on there so I will have to empty all the rubbish out of it (it needs it)! I'm just thinking of a lazy option ;)

Couldn't you try using a power washer on them. Often they come up like new. Then you could just put the missing mortar back.

There are floor paints suitable for concrete floors and steps. Maybe google for further info. Probably very little choice of colours. It might end up looking like a tyre and battery centre.

I agree with the builder about the resin garage floor paint, we used to use one similar and it comes in good shades.

I would get new flag stones. You don't have to remove the ones under the shed -just get someone (or hire) with a Stihl Saw to cut around it.
