Hi,

We have pine timber flooing which has been dented by a piano being wheeled along it. How can I fix this problem, or reduce the severity of the dent?

Thanks

Depends on several factors. How many boards are affected? How long are the dents and how deep? How many dents? Can the damaged boards be replaced with new ones is one possibility to fix the problem. If the boards are stained then the new ones can be stained to match. Try the match on a spare bit of flooring not on the ones put down. If the patches are small then it might be possible to fill with a 'plastic padding type filler' Several on the market in different colours. Is the piano staying or are you getting rid?

Put a damp cloth along the dented area and then apply a hot iron this will drive steam into the depression and raise it .you could drive a pin into the dent to ensure that the steam goes down into the wood.
