hay does anyone know what to do when the bottom of the draws bends through time is there anything to keep the thin wood bit in the bottom ofthe drawstop popping out the sides and bending the wood?

any suggestions thanks

Hi laura
You can screw a small block of wood to the inside of drawer and then fix the thin bit of wood to the block. This can be done front and back in the middle of the width. This will stop the thin bit bending.

Before you put the small blocks in as above, run a thin layer of wood glue in the ridge, and clamp the bottom of the drawer back in. The main thing with these type of drawers is to not put too much weight in them. For instance books weigh a heck of a lot - don't put them in drawers.

I added an X of steel wire, on the underside of the bottom of the drawer, corners to corners. I got it very tight by twisting it. This strengthened the drawer and the bottom.
