I have white melamine board on the gable ends of the kitchen units beside the extractor fan - the previous owner has done a Paint & Grain effect over the gables and I want to remove it and restore it to its original white colour - what can I use to strip the paint off without damaging the surface in any way ? I thought of nitromors - but dont know if it would stri[p the white off as well.

You won't be able to strip melamine, it will spoil it. You could try rubbing it down & painting it or skinning it with formica type material or if you feel confident it is possible to replace the two end panels with a bit of care.

Found a old pieceof Melamine yesterday in my fathers shed and tried some nitromors on it - didn't affect it at all - so started stripping the units last night with no ill effects.
Thanks for replying anyway.
Your very brave, I wouldn't have even have attempted it. Good luck.
