painting old front door

I need to paint my old front door due to the sun fadeing the colour.keeping the same colour what do i need to do for preperation, or can i just paint over the old paint. thnx.

A good wash down with a sugar soap solution should be good enough. If it's still very shiny, a light going over with sandpaper to dull the surface will help.
