Disc Sander problem.

Ok, so I've got a little problem with my disc sander that after a short while the velcro sanding discs fall off.

So far I've got through 4 new discs on sanding down a door simply because they no longer stick to the sander. And now I can't do anything with the discs, even though there is loads of sanding left in them, because when I start up the sander they just fly off.

Does anyone have any solutions or anything that will help as I'm currently going through a pack nearly every time I need to sand anything.

A couple of things... It sounds like you might be using to coarse of a grit to begin with. Coarse grit sand papers are notorious for flying off the disc since the friction of the cutting material exceeds the ability of the Velcro to hold it. Try a finer grit to start with. Secondly, I've not had good luck with Velcroed discs. I think you'd have more luck with the adhesive type. Of course, this means replacing the disc on your sander with one that accepts the adhesive sanding discs, but in the long run I found it works much better... Best of luck!
