hi can anyone recommend a decent thermostatic rad valve that wont sieze up after 18 .months .the ones fitted at the moment are bulldog fitted when new central heating was installed ive tried to free them but to no avail 4 of the 8 fitted are not working.
The ones we have are Drayton , not had a problem with them in 10 years . When the system was fitted did they put the additive in to stop it furring up ? Hope this helps , or get the installer back as this doesn't seem right .
screwfix p402 catalogue87 pegler terriers 15mm 10.69,drayton rt212 15mm 9.49, danfoss ras-c2 15mm 12.49 some on the page as low as 6 but i think you have had enough of the budget versions.
costly remedy but at least you,ll know for certain that inhibitor is used when you drain down and refill
we have this problem with ours we take the top off and pull the pin up and down with pliers giving it a squirt of wd 40 till it releases, pain in the neck to do but cheaper than fitting all new valves
ps
do you mean the valve head wont turn or when it turns then there is no effect i.e. the rad wont warm up
if thats the case then the answer by ruthann 58 applies, to the point where ive pulled the small pin out and rubbed off the build up of crap with emery cloth that was causing the sticking to occur
