i will be borrowing a 230/240 volt cement mixer to do a job in my garden, would i be able to use this in a normal household socket or would i need an adapter. Thanks in advance..

230/240 should be a normal 3pin plug, its the 110v thats different
As above. You'd be well-advised to run it through an RCD protected supply (most modern houses have such a supply from the garage sockets anyway)
yes RCD adaptor it, and dont forget to uncoil all of the cable from the extension they can get very hot if not hth Tez
