I'm thinking of doing a bit...(?!) of exterior work on my house. Am complete amateur though . I want to repair and re paint the panelled 'weatherboards' across top front of house but how is another thing as they look very flaky, and deteriorated, how do I strip and make good and how much should i expect to pay for scaffolding hire for a week? It's a terraced house. Is this realistic job for a DIY dummy?

.........not sure what this boarding is Nutty..............can you post a pic?
I think he means the facia board.

Ring around and gets some quotes from scaffold companys or a recommendation from a friend or work mate.

I would of thought sand it down and repaint but you will have to do it every other year.

Would pvc facia be in-keeping with the house/street?

Hi there and thanks for your advice... DIY dummy is a she, hoping enthusiasm will make up for lack of experience. Yes maybe its the facia board , it's 21 thinnish planks of wood running across from under roof gutter to middle of house front, painted white at mo and don't know if they have ever been changed but house is forty years old and gets salty coastal winds so it's looking worse for wear. I did look up some scaffolding companies but they seemed to be for larger scale commercial purposes will try again though. What else would I need other than an electric sander? Thanks for taking time to answer ...
