fitting a bath/shower screen
i have to fit a half framed 4mm glass bath/shower screen, the wall behind has only plasterboard and no batton to screw into. do I need to put a batton in or is it ok/possibe to fix it on to the plasterboard?

I wouldn't take any chances though, with a heavy glass screen being constantly opened and closed. This sounds a bit drastic, I know, but, I would cut out a section of plasterboard - enough to fit a couple of "noggings" - ie horizontal bridging pieces between the vertical studs.
Mark where they are, replace the plasterboard, and tile over - taking the tiling beyond the line of the bath. Then you can fix the screen through the tiles and into the new timber.
