Hi everyone,

I've recently installed a new living flame gas fire. It has a black imitation brick wall lining which appears to be made of some kind of flame resistant polystyrene. I have accidentally scraped this and have been left with a white exposed area around the size of 10p. Any ideas what I can colour this in with? I haven't tried anything yet but was thinking of either black marker pen or some kind of black paint. However, I am concerned that one of these may just burn away leaving the exposed white area again. Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

you could try ringing the makers and claiming it was damaged when you took it out of the box and ask them to send you a replacement or you can buy a can of black magic paint which we use to refurbish the coals and fuel beds, cost about 10 quid, i have seen it in the large b and q's or you could get it mail order from gas on spares, halesowen, west mids, see their website for the contact details

Thanks Gucciman. The product was inspected on delivery so ringing the makers won't help but I'll follow up the black magic paint suggestion. Very helpful thanks!
