Boiler Replacement

I currently have a Potterton Prima F 50 boiler, approx 18yrs old and would like to change it for a modern, condensing equivilant. The heating/hot water is a vented Y-Plan system, with a fairly new cylinder and controls. I want to leave all this as it is and just replace the boiler and programmer. My house is a 3 bed semi with only one bathroom and obviously a kitchen. We do not have any issues with lack of hot water and I really do not want a combi. I am not looking for cheap, but want a reliable, efficient boiler that will last. What boiler would you recommend as being best as a direct replacement? Thanks in advance

Hi Lee645 I can highly recommend a Worcester Greenstar Ri 18 condensing heat only boiler we had it fitted in Sept 09 into our air cupboard above the hot cyl, fortunate to be on the gable end for flue outlet for our 3 bed semi with use of existing 8 rads though we had to have a new cylinder and all the rad valves updated with TRVs your cyl may be up to date re the latest heat recovery figures.
We have been lovely and warm this winter and at a lower cost hth Tez
stick with the 3 major brands, worcester, valliant or baxi and you can't go wrong, all 3 of them offer a range of system boilers.
Gucciman is right, don`t go for anything else. Iwork for BG and repair boilers all day long, you can`t beat Valliant but they are the most expensive, but they hardly go wrong. 1 big tip is to make sure your system is flushed properly b4 they fit your boiler. The major cause of breakdowns we have is because the system is full of sludge, which in the long run affects the performance of your boiler, no matter what make or model it is.
