Hi, We are renovating a property and are trying to decide on the best way to light the kitchen/living area. It is fairly large and has a vaulted roof with three roof ties or beams from which we want to provide the overhead lighting. Our idea is spotlights from either side of the middle beam. What do we need to know about lights in terms of number, wattage, electricity consumption etc. Thanks for any help.

I'm not an electrician but a couple of years ago we replaced our kitchen lights with spotlights. I couldn't believe how many shadows they cast and could never get them to provide sufficient light to all areas. In the end I went to strip lighting. There are some really nice ones around and am SO much happier.

Just something to bear in mind.
